THE 1-ON-1 LEARNING GROUP

Who Are We?
The 1-on-1 Learning Group is a licensed home daycare and preschool program in Glen Allen, Virginia, providing high-quality early childhood education in a nurturing, family-style, in-home childcare setting. We proudly serve Richmond-area families and welcome a culturally diverse community, remaining deeply committed to multiculturalism, inclusion, and respect for every child and family we serve.
Each child is viewed as a unique individual with their own learning style, background, and potential. As a licensed family daycare program, we provide personalized, developmentally appropriate care for young children, focusing on academic, social, emotional, and mental well-being. Our intentional one-on-one learning approach helps children build confidence, curiosity, and independence in a safe, loving environment.
Our mission is to spark a lifelong love of learning while empowering children to grow into their fullest selves. We emphasize individualized attention, small-group instruction, and whole-child development so every child feels seen, valued, supported, and celebrated.
Although we are not affiliated with any specific religious organization, our program is guided by Christian-based values such as love, respect, prayer, integrity, and honor. These principles help us model kindness, strong character, and positive behavior for children of all faiths and backgrounds. In a world full of challenges and choices, we believe spiritual development—alongside intellectual and emotional growth—is essential to raising well-rounded, resilient children.
As a trusted licensed home daycare in Glen Allen near Richmond, VA, we are honored to partner with families to provide a safe, caring, and meaningful early learning experience for every child.
We are a community of learners and friends.
We are a family!

Teacher's Note:

Dear Parents,
In my 25+ year career as a teacher in Early Childhood Education, I have seen first hand how difficult it is for children to learn to their full potential in large group settings. Not only is it difficult for the child but for the teacher as well.
There were times when I would become frustrated with the lack of attention I was able to give to each child. It has always been my recommendation to parents to spend at least 15 minutes of 1-on-1 time daily with their child in order to help them reach their full potential. This can be time engaged in play, reading a book, helping in the kitchen, or exploring the outdoors, as children learn in a variety of ways.
Now with The 1-on-1 Learning Group we will have the opportunity to address these issues and see a much greater reward in each child's intellectual growth , personality, and behavior.
Sincerely,
Ms. Tiffany

The 1-on-1 Advantage
Our small group size limits the level of intimidation that can sometimes occur in large group and social environments. We believe in small "family style" classrooms with tiered responsibilities and various social interactions.
Each child in our group receives daily 1-on-1 time with the teacher where they are treated and recognized as unique individuals. Here they can talk with their teacher socially, share ideas, and choose the skill they would like to work on each day. At this stage of development they are unable to sit or concentrate for long periods of time so our sessions are short yet effective. During this time we address areas that may need development, as well as, offer new challenges where skills are mastered.
As they learn to recognize their own accomplishments their love for themselves and learning will grow!

Our Program
The 1-on-1 program is a progressive learning system broken into two separate learning Styles:
*1-on-1 & Group Learning (teacher-led activities)
*Play base learning (child initiated activities)
In 1-on-1 learning each child addresses their individual needs (mainly in cognitive skills and language arts) while working 1-on-1 with the teacher. This program is broken into two developmentally appropriate learning semesters based on the child's initial assessment and learning level.
Group Learning is also a part of our program. Serving children of mixed ages has proven beneficial in that the children are able to learn important academic and social skills from each other. Some of our group activities include:
*science exploration
*music and movement
*physical fitness
*creative and process art
*social science
*computer skills
