With a bachelor’s degree in child development and over 30 years of experience in early childhood education, teaching young children isn’t just my profession—it’s my passion. I truly believe there’s no better way to shape the world and inspire the future than by guiding and nurturing our youngest learners.

My Story...
I didn’t choose this path—it chose me. What started as a college job teaching young children turned into my life’s work. I never expected to fall in love with it—or be good at it—but when summer break came and I had to say goodbye, something in me shifted. I missed those children more than I ever imagined, and I knew this was more than a job—it was a calling.
Thirty years later, I’m still knee-deep in crayons, alphabet cards, and construction paper. I’ve spent the last 16 years running a licensed home-based childcare facility, where creativity, culture, and compassion fill every corner. Each hug, smile, and tiny voice saying, “I love you with my whole life,” reminds me why I’ve never left.
My Dream...
After more than 16 years of operating The 1-on-1 Learning Group as a licensed home daycare and preschool in Glen Allen, VA, I’m ready to grow — and I’m asking for your support. Our in-home childcare program has served Richmond-area families with nurturing early childhood education, and now we hope to expand into a brick-and-mortar childcare center in the Richmond / Henrico area so we can reach even more children and families.
I’m raising funds to open a larger licensed childcare and preschool center that will allow us to:
✔ serve more local families in need of quality childcare
✔ create meaningful jobs in our community
✔ offer free or reduced-cost childcare for qualifying families
✔ continue providing high-quality early learning in a warm, inclusive environment
This new center will give us the space we need to grow programs like our beloved “Study Abroad” immersive learning experience, where children explore world cultures through food, music, language, and hands-on activities — all while building curiosity, compassion, and confidence.
With the rising costs of housing, food, staffing, and supplies, the financial leap to a dedicated preschool and childcare facility is significant. But I believe deeply in the power of community, faith, and early childhood education — and that together, we can make this dream possible. Your donation directly supports local families, strengthens early learning, and helps us create a safe, enriching childcare center where every child has the chance to thrive.
